ℹ️About the episode:
This week’s episode takes place in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We stayed at Creekside RV Park in Pigeon Forge, TN. We got super lucky with a site overlooking the creek for Charlie to swim for the first time. This prompted a conversation about the deck and some misconceptions we had when looking at the Grand Design Momentum 399 (Toy Ginger).

If you’ve been watching KYD since Season 1, you know that we’ve been experienced some incredible hikes. From Zion to Alaska, New Zealand and Canada too! We’ve had our fair share of awe-inspiring trails. So when we say that the Smoky Mountains offered some of our favorite hiking to date, that’s saying something! We hiked Laural Falls, Grotto Falls, and our favorite Chimney Top.

My buddy has a grand design solitude and they have been nothing short of amazing when a problem arises. I am totally shocked at all the problems you have had in such a short time of ownership. Call Grand Design they will make it right real fast.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your new puppy, Charlie (BTW, the video of your other pup passing away KILLED me!). I hope you guys are aware of the blue-green algae (toxic to dogs) recently reported in several states around the U.S. and are keeping an eye out as you train Charlie in the water. Sadly, the algae is fatal and the dogs get sick really quickly from it. Have been a fan of your videos for a few years now…hope to become fulltime ourselves in the future. Safe travels!

We've been from Virginia to Los Angeles and places in between, and we've been from Virginia to the Rockies and plains states and places in between, but we've never been to the Great Smokey Mountains which is in my back yard. We've got to change that. Your pictures from the Smokey's are terrific.

I love watching your videos, thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Your family seems so awesome, and your personalities are just great. The footage you share is just so beautiful. I'm originally from Southern Illinois, and I have to admit the people from the Midwest and southern regions are just great. Currently, I'm living near Phoenix, in Avondale. I moved here about 8 years ago to help care for my mother, and I have to admit… not my favorite state to be, but being able to watch other people living the dream I am looking forward to once my responsibilities with family here are done, is amazing. Thank you! – Jackie

My parents run a campground up in Pisgah National Forest on the NC side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. They love it up there and have been hosting for 3 years now in their 5th wheel. That whole area is beautiful. Trish did great driving on the skinny road to the park, it looked more like a walking path than a road. As always 5 out of 5 stars for your production.

Great video as always! I'm (Brian) like you Mark…I have to get things installed as soon as I get them. Instructions be damned! Put a set of snap-pads on our Class A some time ago and we love them too.

I thought the smoky mountains were amazing when I rode through them on the train a few years ago. The Blue Ridge Mountains are a pretty awesome hike too. Love your videos. They are always full of good humor and amazing views ☺💗

It's not just Lazy Days. I had a really similar disappointing outcome with my own dealer, Hitch RV in DE. The end result is that I will do every bit of work myself. Learning how to work on my rig myself and diagnose/fix problems was the only way I was going to be able to continue RVing without selling the rig or letting it sit on the dealer lots for months. The dealers don't have time, and while they wished they could all do better, they sell them half assembled, and don't have time to fix them before the warranty runs out.

    The Smokey Mountains are beautiful!

We also just wanted to share some knowledge about Blue-Green Algae. It may be something you are already aware of, but since many are not, we figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention. A lot of dogs have been killed from swimming in water with the toxic Blue-Green Algae; and I’ve already seen multiple posts this year again. Definitely worth reading up on if you don’t already know about it; got to keep that cutie Charlie safe 😁

Also should mention that pets are not allowed on the trails. We arrived there this year on the last day of the Synchronized Fireflies (we didn't win the lottery). I'm bummed that you were probably there at the same time we were. Will have to become an insider now for the future although you likely won't be out this way for a while now. Enjoy!
