This channel will teach you the good, the bad, and the ugly of Minimal Living, RV Life, Camping, Boondocking, Tiny camper, camping, Van Life, Nomad / Nomadic Life, and frugal living.
After years of working 60 to 70 hours a week and never taking a vacation, Carolyn and I (Rob) decided to quit our job and begin living our dream. We bought a 1970 Starcraft pop-up camper and a fixed it up, traveling the country, and only staying at free campsites. After living in it for a year, our pop-up was burned down by someone in a National Forest. We did not let that get us down. We built a homemade truck camper in 2 1/2 week so we could continue living our dream. Welcome to Little House On The Road 2.0 and welcome to the Little House On The road Family.

What the guy said: "I didn't see any activity, so I wanted to make sure you are OK."

What the guy really meant: "I didn't see any activity, so I came over here to see if there's anything worth stealing – or see if there's a woman by herself 'cause I've got a ski mask, some duct tape and chloroform prepared over there in my windowless van for just that kind of situation."

As a black person, had that happened to me, there's no doubt I would have felt like it was racially motivated…. But no matter how you slice it, burning down someone's camper is f'ed up.

Good point it makes alot of sence. I'm about to get on the road for a few months in my truck camper. I think I'll pay attention to what you say about moving around. I'll be camping on the gulf coast. Thanks Sid

There is a National Forrest campground in South Carolina that is not to far off the interstate. Pretty little place. Went there just to camp one night, really just to check it out. There was a guy and his woman there and a big Rottweiler. I am convenced he was there to make drug deals. My "Spidey Sense" went off soon as I saw them. One thing is he kept driving out but would be gone only 5-10 minutes. The nearest town was at least 20 min down the road. Latter my wife called my cell. She was not feeling well so I told her I would come home. Packed up, and right when I was getting in my car this dude drives out again. I gave him a minute to get out of sight and then I drove out. He was parked on the road going out maybe 75 yards inside the forest property. Probably waiting for someone to buy or sell with.

    Gave me the hebie gebies.

On one hand it's good for all ppl to be very aware of their surroundings, cuz it's time we start catching all these freaks that are kidnapping children & other nefarious gangs…but it sounds to me that the so called concern citizen was a possible opportunistic predator pretending to be concern for your welfare…a lot of ppl will camp for a week or two, that should not raise suspicion, since most ppl get a 2 to 3 week vacation. So I'm all for getting involved when a situation warrants it, but clearly there were no signs of illegal activity here, which is crazy that he stopped!

They're not stalking anyone. YOU ARE IN THEIR BACKYARD. Of course they're going to notice you. I've noticed a car parked along my travel route everyday this week, that has never been there before and I'm not in the middle of nowhere. I would hope people notice what's going on in and around their homes. Being vigilant of your home & its surroundings is a good thing. I would hope my neighbors know when something is different around them.

Take down plate# and report the guy as suspicious when you leave. Maybe he's known to LE. If not and several people did this he would be and then maybe he'd mind his business. I think he was up to no good.
