ANTHONY, Texas– With the global pandemic shutting down industries around the country, one has discovered a way to stay on the road.

It seems the RV industry has found a hidden lining.

Even after laying off four employees, Camping World of Anthony still sold 60 units in the month of April.

In fear of catching the virus, people have not been flying or taking cruises and they’re avoiding hotels.

An option to all of those is the recreational vehicle.

“It’s a really good way to go out and see the country and be safe with your family and go have fun,” said Matthew Bruttig, a sales associate at Camping World.

With Memorial Day coming up, people around the Borderland normally are making plans to hit the nation’s parks.  At the moment though, many of those are closed.  All state parks in New Mexico are shutdown, but in Texas the majority of the parks are now re-opening to the public.

Bruttig told ABC-7 that Camper World also opened a sporting goods store in their facility, and they can’t seem to keep one of the products on the shelves.

“We’re a little short on ammunition right now,” Bruttig said.
