6 Year Old Girl Burned Alive By A Nomad Cooking In A Walmart Lot / RV Living Full Time Van Life

This channel will teach you the good, the bad, and the reality of Minimal Living, RV Life, Camping, Boondocking, Tiny camper, camping, Van Life, Nomad / Nomadic Life, and frugal living.
After years of working 60 to 70 hours a week and never taking a vacation, Carolyn and I (Rob) decided to quit our job and begin living our dream. We bought a 1970 Starcraft pop-up camper and fixed it up, traveling the country, and only staying at free campsites. After living in it for a year, our pop-up was burned down by someone in a National Forest. We did not let that get us down. We built a homemade truck camper in 2 1/2 week so we could continue living our dream. Welcome to Little House On The Road 2.0 and welcome to the Little House On The road Family.

Why were those children left unattended in the van, that was the first crime. This all could have been avoided. Yes it's true the fire started because of the irresponsible vandweller, but the children died because of the irresponsible parent.

You mentioned people converting their vehicle into a house but I will take it a step further and say people convert their vehicle into a possible fire bomb. Whenever I am using my truck camper I will only have my propane on when I am camping. When I am driving or not using my truck camper I shut the propane off. I also turn off my house battery when I am not using my truck camper.

Alot of mistakes are just lack of common sense. Or just total disregard for other people. The walmart i worked at had someone dump their tanks in the lot which put an end to them parking in the lot. People keep it up soon there will be a total end to it for everyone

I used to travel and camp with my 10yr old son in an old van. Never once did I even think about cooking in the van, it just seemed like a bad idea, and a fire hazard. I worried about the combination of gas fumes and an open flame and I worried about blankets and clothes and curtains being close by. so I always cooked out side and if it was raining we ate fast food or sandwiches that day.

While I agree the man is responsible for the fire & the resulting death & injuries…what kind of parent leaves their children in a car like that? Had there been an adult in the car, they could have escaped on foot or moved their van away from the fire. Or, both those little girls should have been inside the store with their parent & not have been put in this situation to begin with.

I don't know the whole story but the man and the girl's parents are equally both to blame. Why were the girls left in the car? Was it hot, weather wise, in Minnesota? why didn't the man or the woman wait until the stove was cool to the touch before putting it inside the van? Why didn't the woman try to get the girls out? Was the girls asleep or non-verbal where they couldn't call out for help? This is so tragic but it could have been prevented. RIp girls. Heaven's got itself 2 more angels.

Rob, love your videos. You and I are both rule keepers and realists, sometimes I think we are in the minority, makes life difficult when others say we are downers and that rules are meant to be broken. I live near the National Forest where your little camper was burned. I hate to say this but it is not a safe place. Have been some heart breaking murders, there are some very mean people and dangerous ones out there. This van fire was just non thinking people, very sad and tragic and the repercussion will be on going. Hopefully Walmart will not come down too hard but I bet the legal ramification will be tough. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

I just watched a video on an RV graveyard where the majority of the RV's burned out due to various reasons. Refrigerators going bad, furnaces burning out, stoves, electrical systems, etc.

This is such a tragic story. I’ve watched many many van build videos, car build truck build videos. Looking for ideas for my own setup. I’ve always wondered how the vehicle holds up with the lumber used, sinks fridges etc. they create beautiful little spaces. I have wondered about those that cook in their tiny spaces. I can’t say I new this was coming but I wondered about it. My sister lives in an old rv at a an rv Park. She decided to get a new mattress. Her son took the original home to the burn pile. He called his mom freaking out. That mattress lit up like it had gas poured on it, engulfed in seconds. Such a tragic story.

Unfortunately commonsense is not so common these days hence the myriad of laws, rules and regulations that have been created to protect us from ourselves and others. It's unfortunate that more of these will now be enacted after this tragedy due to people's right to do whatever the hell they want because they pay taxes.

    .
I see a lot of people blaming the parents for leaving them in the car.
Whether you would OR wouldn't leave a 6 & 9 yr old alone in a car, is NOT important.
It was the mothers choice and see will live with that decision.
    .
The State of Minnesota says that it is completely legal to do so!
"The sheriff’s office has reportedly notified Anoka County Child Protective Services because of the amount of time McKenzie left them alone while she shopped, but police say it’s not illegal to leave children of that age in a vehicle."

One other thing comes to mind maybe two or three things..
Why didn't the lady who was removing the burning items from her own van get the children out of the second van? How was it possible in the middle of summer to leave your own children in the van where were the parents? Multiple adults are to blame here

Very serious and important safety information…I would not want to have that guilt that my reckless disregard for the sake of a shorter walk has been the cost of ANY life, much less these 2 innocents, on my soul…imho in the sake of safety and genuine regard for other life We Are Each Others Keepers….please keep this tragedy in mind when thinking safety, it only costs 1 second of time…😎

    SO many errors:
    – cooking in parking lot
    – putting hot stove in car
    – flammable items on top of hot stove
    – moving car to near others
    – leaving a hot stove unattended
    – nomad’s wife opening back and giving extra oxygen to the flames
    – underage children left in car unsupervised
    – failure to extricate children from van

Hopefully more than just him is being charged! 🤬

Such a sad thing to happen. The nomad was very sloppy and caused death and injuries to 2 children that had their whole lives ahead of them. It just saddens me so badly.
